I’m pretty sure 2009 is the future

This blog seems to be turning into a biannual newsletter.  Let me summarize what’s been going on since my last post.
In September, Lindsey came to Austin to celebrate her birthday.  Unbeknownst to her, Michael and Ted arrived secretly a couple hours before her.  We all surprised her at the airport - it was probably the [...]

Austin Hijinks

So it’s been a while since my last post. I’ve been busy. We managed to get our apartment unpacked (with the help of Michael and Jody). We love the place we live. Our unit is huge (~1250 sq. feet) and our patio is ~30 feet from one of our complex’s pools. [...]

Made it to Austin

Laurie and I made it to Austin. Our apartment is humongous, and it’s in a really nice area. Michael and Jody came along to help us unload and unpack. They’ll be flying back to Jackson at the end of the week. I’ll post pictures as soon as we get everything unpacked.
I [...]

Graduation and Moving

I graduated, but I didn’t walk in the ceremony. I now have a M.S. in Computer Engineering. I’ve tried getting all my friends to call me “Master Holland,” but no dice.
Laurie and I are moving next week to Austin, where we’ve found a really nice two bedroom apartment in a gated apartment complex. [...]

State of Life

Really, not too much has happened since my last post. I wrote and defended my thesis (link here). My committee said it was good enough to graduate. Assuming I pass Analog Integrated Circuit Design, I’ll graduate with my M.S. in early May.
Though Laurie and I were planning on going to Colorado so [...]

Grades and Job Offer

Grades are in; I made all A’s again.
The biggest news is that I got a job offer from Lockheed Martin in Boulder, Colorado. It’s a great offer and I love the location, so I’ve accepted contingent upon Laurie getting into University of Colorado (which she almost certainly will).
I’ve been working on my thesis since [...]

Back to school

Laurie and I were married on August 4th. The bachelor party the night before was pretty tame (we mostly played Magic the Gathering and made a twinkie cake). Me and Ted and my dad and Dirtbag won the wedding golf tournament. Laurie and I went on our honeymoon in Zihuatanejo (slide show [...]

Senior Design is over. My project is documented here. I’ll be graduating in a few days and I’ll start my master’s program this summer.
One of my most serious classes this semester was VLSI Design. The lab portion of this course concluded with a project in which we designed an operational MIPS processor [...]

July 1, 2006

The month since my last post has been eventful. I’ve finished Advanced Electronic Circuit, the final course in the circuits series. The laboratory portion of this involved the design and construction of an audio amplifier. More here.
Operating Systems II is a blast. We are using embedded systems equipped with FPGAs containing [...]

September 10, 2005

School is well under way. I’m enjoying all of my classes.
The Electrical and Computer Engineering Student Advisory Council has started meeting once again. We are planning on having a “Tech-Swap” where everyone brings old electronics they don’t want any more and swaps them for other old electronics.
At work, we are preparing for a [...]
